03.03.2014 UN's first World Wildlife Day

In the UN's own words; "World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people. At the same time, the Day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime, which has wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts."

The Guardian points we should be mindful that it will be next year in Paris before the aptly named Climate Deal where "governments have pledged to ink a new universal agreement on climate change – one aimed at sparing the planet and its people from dangerous, unchecked global warming."

Life may yet still be beautiful, but the world is changing. We must act now as we can not afford to fail to protect it.

Fighting for ancient woodland with your help for many years. Enough is enough. We know from experience that our simple changes will help turn this situation around. Change starts at the top.

We will be writing directly to the Prime Minister with more details about the options we have put forward, to add to the messages Number Ten has already received from you.
25,000 people have already supported our call and their messages are keeping up the pressure on Number Ten. But we can't let the huge swell of support this campaign has received so far be dismissed as a 'blip'. Put simply, numbers count! Please spread the word!
